This week has been super busy with Mia starting new classes and activities. She is taking a somewhat structured class on Wednesday at a nearby children’s museum, which we love! There is free play, music, arts/crafts, science, outside learning, and we all end with sitting in a circle for snack and story time. I imagine this is what her pre-school would be like minus me being there. We are also going to two different library story times, plus parks, and are going to try out a little gym. I have a couple tours setup with preschools this month. She should have been put on the waiting list last year, but I wasn’t sure if we were moving back east or staying in California. For now, we are staying so I need to get her on the waiting list at a few schools. Yes, there are waiting lists for preschool! I would like to start her this fall for two days a week, but I need to see how she feels and if she is ready.
For the past two weeks I have been eating very clean. No processed food, cooking at every meal, and drinking black coffee in the morning and tea in the afternoon and evening. My jeans are a little looser and I have so much more energy! Eating clean isn't a diet, but a lifestyle change in how you eat. At dinner, I try and include a lean protein, whole grain, and green vegetable. For example—4 oz. of baked salmon, a cup of brown rice, and sautéed swiss chard. Below are a few food finds I have been loving this week!
These crackers are so yummy and I am so glad I decided to try these at Whole Foods. I have been topping them with light chicken or tuna salad for lunch or cottage cheese for a snack.
I cook this as our whole grain for dinner---found at Whole Foods. For now, I have been making it plain adding some soy sauce for flavor. For Mia, I add butter in hers and she loves it!
I eat one of these small yogurts every morning for breakfast along with a piece of toast and jam. I am loving the vanilla flavor this week!
These are my two teas I have been drinking daily. I drink the Skin Detox in the afternoon during Mia’s nap and Green Tea at night before bed.
I have a major sweet tooth, but I don’t believe you should restrict yourself on any food. If you have a piece of cheesecake (which is Mike’s favorite), first share with someone and just take a couple bites, then have the rest with coffee the next day. I look forward to it! For my dessert these past weeks I found this amazing ice cream substitute at Whole Foods. I have a couple scoops at night along with a small handful of Trader Joe’s oatmeal raisin crunch cookies. It makes for a very satisfying dessert! I hope to continue eating clean and will document more food finds next week. If you have any, please share below…I would love to try!

Thanks Mary! I am hoping to start juicing too and am looking at juicers on Amazon! Cheers to that!
DeleteGreat post!
ReplyDeleteLove this post. I need to drink more green tea (decaf). I have been cautious though on certain teas with the pregnancy. Currently doing warm water in the evening with a fresh lemon wedge and teaspoon of honey! Its delightful! Also, found a new favorite clean eating snack: raw almonds mixed with dry fruit (cranberries or apricots) and a few organic choc chips thrown in the mix! xoxo
ReplyDeleteWarm water and lemon wedges are very good! I have been drinking the skin detox now and I have definitely noticed a diff in my skin--much clearer and smooth! I like to think it's from the tea! I will have to add that snack too! xo
DeleteWhat is the skin detox????
DeleteIt's a tea by Yogi called Skin Detox! I have a picture of it above. I swear my skin has a healthier glow lately :)
DeleteWe are always trying to be better about eating clean. It is definitely more work, but worth it!
ReplyDeleteYes it is a lot of work and committment but like you said, so worth it!
DeleteI've been really trying to eat clean, too. Good for you!
